Our Vision

Learn more about what brought us to this work, what motivates us to keep going and what we dream about for our community.

Alzheimers & Dementia are devestating diseases, no matter where the affected person lives. But in Uganda this is amplified by the fact that there is no awareness for the illnesses, so affected people are at times treated like they are possed or mentally ill. Furthermore the affected elderly people are in many cases the sole caretakers of the familiy due to the loss of their children to HIV or other deadly diseases. Without the possibility to work the situation in which they find themselves is dire, food being the most pressing issue.
When Isaac talks to foreigners about the struggles of his community and his own experience he phrases it like this: "Spreading awareness is hard when the people you talk to have not eaten in days".
This is why it is so important to create a space where the members of this community can come together, have a meal and do some crafts. Apart from adressing their most basic needs like food, they are also provided with hope and a safe space to rest, where they can be part of a community and ultimately contribute to their own future.
The center that we plan will be the first of its kind in Uganda, but hopefully not the last.

We are more then a carity that merely hands out money or donations. We want to create meaningful change in our community and society. Donations still make a big part of how we can finance our work, but we aim at creating our own means of income to be independent and sustainable. Furthermore we want to provide our community with their own means income to provide for themselves.
This is realized through our projects, in which we have support from Europe and the United States to make the these markets accessible for our beautiful traditional Ugandan crafts.
